Fort Bliss Soldiers Protect a Pair of Owls

Here's a feel-good story for today. Regina Bailey shared with us a photo of a burrowing owl that was taken by her son, Ory, on the Fort Bliss U.S. Army base in El Paso, Texas. "This little guy and his mate created their home by a busy storm drain close to the road," wrote Regina, "so the soldiers cordoned off an entire area to keep them safe."

How great is that?

We've written two Facebook posts recently about the lives and increasingly hard times of burrowing owls. It's uplifting to hear about a group of soldiers taking the time and effort to protect a pair. Thank you, Regina, Ory and the owl protectors at Fort Bliss!
